1917: Ben Kessel founds Mound City Shelled Nut Co. in the Delmar Loop neighborhood of St. Louis.

1973: Byron Smyrniotis becomes the new owner and operator of Mound City, bringing new life and excitement into the business

1980: With the help of his chocolatier grandfather, Smyrniotis introduces handcrafted chocolate covered items to the Mound City product mix.

1990: Stacy Smyrniotis joins Byron as the Vice President and together they grow Mound City to a local staple in the St. Louis community.

2015: Mound City Introduces Pure Nut Butters to the market.

2017: Mound City Celebrates its 100 Year birthday!

2024: After 50 years of love and devotion to Mound City Shelled Nut Co., Byron and Stacy take a well deserved retirement and pass the reins of ownership over to Yehuda Romanoff.
